Seasons/Holy Days & Liturgical Colors

"The start of a new liturgical year, beginning with the first Sunday of Advent, also marks the transition from one lectionary cycle (A, B, or C) to the next.

These cycles are a result of the Second Vatican Council, which ordered a change in the Sunday readings at Mass so that Catholics would become more familiar with the text of the Bible. As a result we now have a three-year cycle of readings built around readings from the three synoptic Gospels—Matthew, Mark, and Luke."  (from the Loyola Press website) visit it here for more information ->https://www.loyolapress.com/catholic-resources/liturgical-year/liturgical-cycles/

We have a 3 year rotation for our Mass readings.
Year A we get our readings from: Matthew
Year B we get our readings from: Mark
Year C we get our readings from: Luke

Liturgical Colors

Each season, Holy Day, Celebration and more is represented by different colors.
The priest's vestments as well as the Alter Cloths will be in the appropriate color =for that day.  At times you may see other colors used, like at weddings the priest may wear a white vestment with blue trim, or on Christmas and Easter their white vestment may be trimmed in gold.

When you're at Mass, look and see what color the priest is wearing.
